Hiking in Mauritius is different

There are no marked trails, mountain huts or signposts here. Most of our hikes cross true wilderness: forest, rivers, cliffs and waterfalls.

That wildness comes with real terrain. Every trail on the island, even the ones we call easy, is technical: steep and rocky, with roots, loose ground and river crossings, and rocks that turn slippery after rain.

  • Paths are unmarked and change after every storm, so they are easy to lose

That is why we guide every hike ourselves. We know each trail as it is this week, and as members of the local rescue services we know how to keep you safe on it.

We had a wonderful hiking experience with Priska on the short loop of Tamarind Falls. She was very friendly and supportive, she really instilled confidence in me as I can get nervous when there's difficult footing but I always felt very safe. She also took some lovely photos of us. I would also highly recommend the walk itself, it was definitely a high reward to effort ratio with stunning regular views of the waterfalls and forest as we descended.
